Rowyn's Tree of Life

Merry Meet and Welcome

Did you find me from the Microsoft website?  It doesn't matter.  I'm just glad you're here.  I'm a Pagan mom of 2 who strongly believes in raising our children to know our religion.  I try to post stories and crafts to keep your own little witchlings busy.  If there is anything you need, just use the "Contact Me" link over there on the left.

Did you know?

British Folklorist Lady Raglan first coined the term "Green Man" in her 1939 article in Folklore magazine. The oldest reference to a "Green Man" is in the Koran! Islamic lore is full of legends about Khidr, "the verdant one".

The following poem was gifted to me by WhiteWolf. I am very pleased and honoured to post his poem here.

THE ANCIENT ONE

As you sit there in gnostic contemplation

the calumet before you awaiting spiritual libation

----just who are you?----

Are you the culmination of a gathering of nations

or a display of craftsmanship from an individual patron?

----Maybe you are both----

the answers lay there within the stone and wood

imbedded memories of many councils

of spoken words both bad and good

sacred mixture mixed with fire

only then they come to life

cosmic instrument ear of creation

sending prayers of hope and strife

and as their smoke has risen and gone

they go to the home of the Ancient One.

Another lovely poem, written by a friend who unfortunately crossed the veil in 2009.

WICCA

As Seen Through My Eyes

Wooded glens, wandering streams,

Rolling hills, valleys hidden away,

Islands of flowers, carpets of green,

Gentle breezes caress the day,

Mother Earth creates Her ultimate scene.

Mountain silhouettes, skies of blue,

Snowy peaks, veils of white,

Wandering clouds, a Sun so true,

Illuminates the Goddess's might,

Mother Earth creates Her ultimate view.

Searing Sun, relentless heat,

Arid deserts, scorching sand,

Nocturnal life, mid-day retreat,

Life underground, cactus stand,

Mother Earth creates her ultimate feat.

Frozen tundra, ice so cold,

Bitter winds, drifting snows,

Snowstorms, ever so bold,

Midnight Sun, life still grows,

Mother Earth creates her ultimate hold.

Rivers and brooks, ever so swift,

Ponds, lakes, oceans, ever so deep,

Life underwater, aimlessly adrift,

Overflowing bounties, yet to reap,

Mother Earth creates her ultimate gift.

Life above ground, life in the sand,

Life in the ground, fish in the sea,

Birds in the air, animals on land,

Life abounds everywhere, as it should be,

Mother Earth creates her ultimate scheme so grand.

Who could ever believe this to be real,

We of the Wicca know this is no dream,

Earth, Air, Fire, Water & Spirit, We do feel,

Is all in our Mother's grand scheme.

Mother Earth now needs us to help her heal.
